Short Stays and Seasonal Work.
For visitors, students, and the seasonal workers who keep NZ’s horticulture and wine sectors running, RSE is one of the most accessible legal work routes from Pakistan.
Visitor Visa (NZeTA · Visa)
VISITOR
For tourism, family visits, short business trips, or super-visa for parents and grandparents. Multiple-entry visas valid up to passport expiry (max 10 years). Strong documentation of ties to Pakistan critical.
Recognised Seasonal Employer Scheme
RSE
For seasonal work in horticulture and viticulture (planting, picking, pruning, packing). Up to 7 months per visit (9 for Pacific Islands). Employer-led recruitment via approved RSE scheme employers.
Specific Purpose Work Visa
GWSV
For specific events, projects, or one-off engagements where you’ve been invited by a NZ organisation. Includes academic exchanges, business secondments, and time-bound consulting work.
Student Visa + Post-Study Work
STUDENT
For full-time study at an NZ institution. Post-Study Work Visa available (1–3 years depending on qualification level and location). Direct on-ramp to AEWV and residence.

AEWV is the dominant work route now — Green List occupations get straight-to-residence treatment, others move to the Skilled Migrant Category after gaining NZ work experience.

The main employer-sponsored work visa, replacing the old Essential Skills system. 3-tier check: employer accreditation, job check, migrant check. Up to 5 years. Pathway to Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) residence.

Accredited Employer Work Visa
Active Investor Plus Visa.
New Zealand redesigned its investor visa programme in 2025 with two tiers: a lower-cost “Growth” category requiring NZD $5M of direct investment over 3 years, and a “Balanced” category at NZD $10M over 5 years with broader investment options.
The new system rewards active investors who put capital into direct investments (private equity, managed funds investing in unlisted NZ companies, philanthropy) rather than passive bonds. Time-in-NZ requirements are minimal, making it especially attractive for entrepreneurs.
